Article — Boomerang Competition Records

All of the records shown here are from official scores at formal competitions. This therefore excludes some spectacular, and documented, efforts (such as the MTA throw by John Gorski in 1993 of approximately 17 minutes and 6 seconds, caught 70 metres from the launch point. The boomerang hit a thermal and was estimated to have reached a height of over 200 metres).

Some events have modest records simply because they are rarely included in formal competitions anymore (eg. Junior consecutive catch).

Note that Accuracy and Trick Catch/Doubling have had perfect scores made. In some cases, the competitor has then been given additional throws until the perfect run was broken. In the case of Manuel Schütz’s Trick Catch/Doubling record, for example, he completed three rounds of 100 points perfectly before failing on the final foot catch to complete the fourth round.

The age requirement for Veterans’ status in Australia was 50 years old until 1997, when it was changed to the current 55 years old.

Juniors must be less than 16 years old.

Recent (2006 and later) records are shown in red text.
